This photobook consist of photo essays on two brazilian states: Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. The main idea is that the book always begins. By this I mean, there is no front and back cover but two covers: halfway through, the book reverses direction. On one side there are photographs of Rio de Janeiro and on the other side there are photographs of São Paulo. I can play with the idea that these are two opposing states: Rio de Janeiro is known for its nature and São Paulo, nicknamed as “selva de pedra” (stone jungle) by brazilians. On the middle page, where the photographs intersect, there will be a tracing paper page with a map of the road that connects one city to the other: the BR-116. At each start there is an introductory text and an indication of which state will be seen.
