In the ashes of my homeland, I planted my hopes like olive trees—knowing they would outlive the fire. — Fadwa Tuqan Letters to the Sun is a sound sanctuary built from words, sounds, breaths, instruments, and pauses - confronting the chasm of silence forced upon the rubble of Gaza, where each bomb is an affront to our humanity, and each whataboutism a dilution of horror. Here, we create space to feel and to share the within, from within, and for one another. First aired as a sound piece on Radio Alhara, it is now being released as a double LP comprised of music by Adelaida, Asifeh, Drew McDowall, drumloop & Mayss, fatalism, Faten Kanaan, Firas Shehadeh, Israa Shalaby, Jad Atoui, Kareem Lofty, alongside poems sent to us by Fatma Al Jabari, a poet in Gaza writing throughout the genocide. All proceeds will go to Revive Gaza’s Farmland, a project by the Arab Group for the Protection of Nature. The initiative works to rehabilitate Gaza’s agricultural land and rebuild local food systems.
