Enquiry #4 presents ‘Chance Encounters,’ the standalone catalogue in an ongoing series of investigations with experimental platform Goldwin 0. As a transition point between Enquiry 1–3 & 5, the publication does not seek to clarify or define a process, but present it in all its ambiguity and complexity as it unfolds and begins to take shape. Drawing from the ad hoc and the improvised, it captures a moment in time, where ideas are in flux and questions remain unanswered. Held in a washi paper sleeve, the large format nterfolded visual research catalogue brings together various photographic perspectives from the mountainous forests of Japan, including the work of Daniel Shea; its structure and narrative reveal the generative relationship between analog and digital approaches to image-making and editing.
