This EP, written and recorded over three years, captures the work of Haydn Douet Lukies, a percussionist whose practice centres on highly resonant objects and site-responsive sound. Based in Portugal, Douet Lukies has developed a distinctive approach to solo percussion, working with antique metal and glass alongside found architectural surfaces. His music draws on a wide range of influences, from minimalism and Arabic percussion to jungle and the polyrhythmic batida that first drew him to Lisbon. Alongside his solo work, he has collaborated with musicians and visual artists across Europe in galleries and live settings. These recordings reflect both that broader practice and a more personal trajectory. Inspired by industrial dub, UK bass/drill, dream diaries, and recovery, the pieces are rooted in the harbour soundscape of Cacilhas, where chains, water, and distant horns become part of the rhythmic language. The result is a hypnotic, physical listening experience where improvisation, environment, and material are inseparable.
