Abdou El Omari Lost Tape – 1980

Abdou El Omari was born in 1945 in Tafraout, south of Agadir, nestled between the pink peaks of the mountains and the waves of the Atlantic. This small village, perched in the Anti-Atlas, is itself a kind of musical landscape. He grew up in the dry light of the terrain, lulled by the sounds of nature and Berber culture. Little information circulates about the musician; a veil of mystery surrounds his path, only adding to his allure. For while his name remains discreet, his music continues to travel. It seems to emerge from another time, another world or perhaps simply from a shared dream between the blue nights of Casablanca and the silent dunes of the Sahara. In the 1970s, at the heart of a Morocco in transition, Abdou El Omari carved out a singular path: a visionary music blending spiritual jazz, psychedelic funk, Moroccan traditions, and electronic experimentation. Today, his work is resurfacing, rediscovered by a new generation of listeners in search of forgotten horizons. This record is one of its rarest and most precious fragments.
