Not on the ’25 bingo card, Swedish organist and singer Anna Von Hausswolff’s new album is a neat fit for a label who’ve captured a certain portion of popular music imagination over the past decade to cult acclaim. No doubt a lot of the label's following will be perplexed with this bout of organ music, epic rock orchestrations, and Kate Bush theatrics, into grandest statements of hoary guitar bombast alloyed with a signature, magisterial organ and wail, leavened with Iggy Pop’s gruff counterpoint on ‘The Whole Woman’, and at best underlined by Abul Mogard’s tumescent drone bass on ‘An Ocean Of Time’.
