Upfront tonk and wiggle from the hard drum boss and his Aussie spar, tilting between Raptor house, teched-out tresillo, and tuff dabke shoulder dances. The handful of club hammers in ‘Caldo Verde’ mark both artists’ return to AD 93 after respective sessions wth Loraine James and Anunaku, but their first in collaboration. In tag team mode they whip Venezuelan hard house trot with a kinkier wiggle on ‘Triple It’, and go like Good Grief meets Global Underground on the sleek offbeat pounder ‘Gallop’, with a masterful twist of keyboard horns and juicy chords on the dabke slugger ‘Twos and Fours’. They’re at their best when shearing the beat off the bone, as with the neuro tribal guarachero swivel of ‘Swanky’ and when they get really busy with the drums and swingeing subs on a standout ‘Breath Work’.
