"SANTOS LAGUNA", the brainchild of Chilean musician Martín Bruce (Ramburutse & Lavondasay, AHRRE) and German percussionist Janik Weu (Velour), both now residing in the city of Porto. Together in 2022 they birthed the sonic bliss known as JUST FISH - a musical ode to their deep-rooted camaraderie. In the realm of sound they've cultivated, echoes of Library music luminaries like Giuliano Sorgini, Franco Potenza, Daniela Casa and Piero Umilliani resonate alongside intriguing, almost ethereal connections to artists found within the Éthiopiques catalog, or the enigmatic Hailu Mergia. Even more curiously, their musical exploration hints at indirect influences from legendary figures like J. Dilla, to some hypnagogic pop from the 2010’s to like even further away, the spiritual journeyman, Otis G Johnson. Their music, like a freshly caught fish from the bustling market, is a compendium of tunes lovingly collected from their training tapes. Granting us a fleeting glimpse into the boundless expanse of JUST FISH, leaving us yearning for a treasure trove of musical brilliance yet to be unveiled.
