Belgian synthesist David Edren and Japanese composer Hiroki Takahashi have teamed up for a collaborative LP on the Aguirre label entitled Flow. Culled from digital sessions shared between the two artists in 2020, Flow was shaped by the cultural divide separating the duo. Despite never convening in the same room, the musical chemistry between Edren and Takahashi is palpable. Tracks like the opening ‘Dusk Decorum | 黄昏礼節’ and ‘Stalactime | 鍾乳石時計’ seem to weave in and out of each other’s tendencies, finding space to highlight both Takahashi’s light and nimble sound design, and Edren’s distinct synth work in equal measure.
