Found Tapes Porto 2004-2019
The FOUND TAPES PORTO archive is composed of phonographic residue derived from the audio magnetic material commonly known as cassete tape. This detritus, almost entirely composed of magnetic tape of varying lengths was collected along the streets of the city in between 2004 and 2019, although this collection continues active today. From this period, the volume of the body has approximately one hundred entries, totalling 15 hours of audio that include : music of different styles and époques, homemade recordings, language courses and even recordings of memory data, such as games and software. It is for this reason that we refer to the project as 15 years of magnetic memories of the city of Porto, developed from the simple biographic routines of the projects contributors, drifting and serendipity. As the collection grows the archive builds itself, gaining body and the curiosity about its contents and how the portrait of a place can be drawn from its waste.
